Married on 11th May 2023, ceremony/reception in the Killeshin Hotel Portlaoise. From viewing to booking to being married, our dealings with John and his team at the Killeshin were just perfection. From the start they were taking care of all our needs and wants for the day and the time leading up to it, making sure we were happy with how everything was progressing and if we needed anything else added or forgot anything (which we did) plenty and Jonathan and the crew had our backs. Our day was perfect. The ceremony, flowers, and food which was fantastic and the room was laid out beautifully all evening and into the late hours being constantly catered for by the wedding team who were brilliant from start to finish. We would highly recommend the Killeshin Hotel and team to any couple planning on starting their wedding journey.

Where do I start from the moment we arrived at the Killeshin Hotel on the day of the show case, it was fantastic. Jonathan made us feel so relaxed. The ceremony room was so beautiful and as for the reception room, it was out of this world, the attention to detail was 100%. Jonathan is so friendly and we had lots of laughs along the way, he really knows his job and takes great pride in it. He put us at ease straight away and I thought to myself this is great, he organises everything, the pressure was off. Myself and my daughters stayed in the hotel the night before and were treated like royalty. The morning of the wedding, a room was provided for the hairdresser and the make up artist and we were greeted with croissants, coffee and tea and of course champagne. Jonathan was at hand for any questions and of course Donal who was manager of the kitchen. Everything ran so smoothly on the day, the guests all commented and are still talking about how good the food was and how much finger food was provided at the evening reception. The court yard was fantastic, it was a sunny day so everyone sat outside it was beautiful. It was a perfect day, thank you so much to the Killeshin and all their staff.

Writing a review for The Killeshin Hotel and for Jonathan (the wedding coordinator) in the Killeshin Hotel is very easy for us to do. We got married in August 2023, we had such an amazing journey with the Killeshin Hotel and can highly recommend the Killeshin hotel for your wedding. Jonathan is like the secret sauce. When we got engaged, our original plan was to have a civil service with the HSE and maybe party in the evening for friends and family. I initially went to the Killeshin wedding fair with a friend of mine, just for curiosity. I went into the wedding fair not wanting this, not wanting that. However, by the time I was leaving The Killeshin Hotel, I wanted it all and I wanted it in the Killeshin Hotel only.I could not believe it myself, how quick I changed my mind, my fiance thought he was hearing things. The Killeshin Hotel had won me over-I really liked everything about it!I loved the hotel itself, its size, it's personality, the wedding room was gorgeous, a great size big but not too big. I love the layout of the private courtyard and piazza for guests. I really loved the room that could be hired to hold the intimate civil wedding ceremony. The wedding day itself was magical in every way, even better than we could have imagined. We would highly recommend The Killeshin Hotel for every reason- your guests can park underneath the hotel in the car park, the foyer area is gorgeous, guests can have drinks in the bar before the ceremony, the ceremony room was beautiful and a great size. The piazza and the courtyard was gorgeous for our drinks reception, the wedding room was beautiful- the food was absolutely delicious, all the guests were very happy. The service was brilliant, the hotel rooms etc. We had The Vows wedding band play for us with DJ Loyd afterwards- they were exceptional too. We had an amazing wedding day thanks to Jonathan and The Killeshin Hotel and all of the team there. Thank you so much.

Picking a venue for our wedding was a little tricky for us. As a small party of thirty guests we wanted an intimate special wedding and not to get lost in a big hotel. However, we needed the facilities that generally only hotels can provide ie a suitable room for our civil ceremony, a nice bar/restaurant and bedrooms for our guests to stay over in. The Killeshin ticked all the boxes. From our first meeting with the wedding co ordinator Jonathan, we knew we were in good hands. He knew exactly the atmosphere and wedding we wanted to create and worked closely with us to make this come through. As someone with OCD, I was very nervous about letting other people manage the little details and over see the decorating of the different spaces we were going to use on the day. In the end, I had nothing to worry about. We felt so special on our big day, it was like we were the only guests in the hotel and all the staff went out of their way to look after us and our guests. I couldn't recommend the Killeshin more for your wedding day. It has all the facilities that you could possible need and they tailor your wedding to your exact requirements.

The Killeshin Hotel was the perfect venue for our wedding. We started planning a year ahead and had a clear vision of what we wanted. Our wedding specialist, Jonathan Dalton was top-class at fulfilling our wishes and giving the best advice. The food was out of this world. Our guests still keep praising it. The decor and room itself were lovely, spacious and designed specifically to our wishes including thinking outside the box solutions we asked for. The staff was 5*, professional and obliging. We were over the moon :) 7 months into marriage and we keep receiving amazing comments about our wedding from our guests. We honestly recommend the Killeshin Hotel to all those who want to have an unforgettable time, care and food. Thank you guys, you were amazing:) Highly recommended: A+++++.

From the wedding fair, right up until we checked out, the Staff were incredible, nothing was too much trouble. We had both ceremony and reception in hotel. The hotel worked with our outside agencies seamlessly. Food was amazing, everyone's tastes catered for. The hotel not being too large made our day very intimate. The staff worked around our needs on the day. Our day was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. We would highly recommend the Killeshin hotel, just wish we could do it all again. Thank you x

Our experience was most definitely five stars. All the hotel staff could not do enough for us. John was our wedding co-ordinator, and he was excellent. The room was beautifully decorated. The food was outstanding, (guests still talking about how good it was), and all our wishes were catered for. The two flower girls and one pageboy were delighted with the teddy bears, compliments from the hotel. We had the most memorable day, and can't thank everyone enough. We wish we could do it all again!

""Our special day happened on June 2nd this year. I wanted somewhere friendly, local and familiar to entertain my guests after the ceremony. I looked at every local hotel around Portlaoise. I was immediately impressed with the professional and amiable approach of the wedding coordinator in the Killeshin Hotel. It’s an instinct, a bride to be just knows…. Cavan Dunne is a very experienced and totally confident wedding coordinator. Any questions, no matter how random, he answered competently, putting my mind at ease completely. Any niggling worries and concerns were immediately put to rest. He understood everything and welcomed any challenges patiently & enthusiastically. He made out a plan, and was in regular communication by email. I booked the hotel in January for our reception in June, the short timescale didn’t frighten any of the staff as they are all competent and excellent at customer service. Cavan organised a menu tasting a few weeks beforehand which confirmed our expectations of the high quality food served in The Killeshin Hotel. He embraced our wedding theme, printed the menus to match, added photographs and extra information where required. He took on board all of our own table decor (although the Killeshin have beautiful floral/candelabra arrangements on each table anyway). He arranged for our Tayto crisp sandwich packs to be displayed in a specific area and on a time that was previously decided. The Cake, Bathroom baskets, wedding favours and signage that we had made took over Cavan’s office from the day before & were all perfectly in place for our wedding day. Speaking about ’time’ - we were most impressed with how Cavan made the day happen like clockwork. He orchestrated everything as a conductor instructs his orchestra. Everything from asking what type of car we were to arrive in (so he’d be ready with the champagne on the red carpet) to familiarising himself with the bridal party names & responsibilities. He also arranged the crowd to be seated and ready to welcome the bride & groom and introduced us, asking firstly what we would like him to introduce us as, i.e. Mr. & Mrs. etc. (Another really nice touch). The dinner was overseen by him so perfectly as he was familiar with the seating location of each person with specific dietary requirements and so on. One can notice this most from the top table, he was quietly orchestrating everything and making sure every guest was looked after so well. The seating plan was vital and Cavan was always available to help out with changes. The children’s table worked perfectly and were catered for efficiently. The staff worked around all the entertainment /art supplies at this very large table. The room was a perfect size for our wedding party to enjoy a meal & celebrate. It looks exactly the same as is on the Killeshin Hotel wedding brochure. The atmosphere and ambience helped the guests to feel at ease and like one big family. The lighting surrounding the edge of the ceiling was set to match the colour of the bridesmaids; something that I hadn’t even thought about. The table settings, decor, lighting and chair covers were beautiful with the background music at a perfect volume. It looks exactly the same as is on the Killeshin Hotel wedding brochure. The day went seamlessly without any interruption to the celebrations. Cavan arranged gluten free sandwiches for the evening guests also. The day went by far too fast but was magical. This is one reason why bride /grooms to be should ascertain that their reception venue is close to their ceremony. Guests attending the wedding said it was the best wedding they’ve ever been invited to, from the hotel, food, wine, service & so on. It was so enjoyable that we had our after wedding party in the Killeshin Bar the following evening. That evening, two of the staff in the Killeshin remarked that it was the nicest wedding they’d served at - with the guests expressing genuine happiness, friendliness, respect & contentment. Thank you to everyone involved, wedding coordinator; Mr. Cavan Dunne, the management & staff of the Killeshin, The Chef and kitchen/waiting staff for making our day so special. It was an all round brilliant day that will remain in our positive memories for many years to come.""
