Honestly could not have chosen a nicer hotel to get married in. We got married within a 9-month time frame and have to say from the first visit to the Shandon we knew it was the one! From the hotel itself, the staff, the location, and of course Joy herself were first class. With different emails back and forth, everything was answered within time, and nothing was ever too much hassle. Everyone at the wedding said how gorgeous the food was, the drinks reception and just the hotel in general. Highly recommend getting married here. 10/10!!

We had our wedding at the Shandon Hotel, and it was nothing short of perfect. From start to finish, the venue was absolutely stunning and created the most beautiful backdrop for our special day. The food was exceptional – every guest commented on how delicious it was and how well catered everything was. A very special mention has to go to our wedding coordinator, Joy. She was simply outstanding – professional, warm, and attentive in every way. Joy went above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of, and thanks to her, we were able to relax and enjoy every moment. The Shandon Hotel truly exceeded our expectations and gave us memories we’ll cherish forever. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough to any couple looking for a dream wedding venue.

To say our day was amazing is an understatement; from start to finish, Joy made the whole experience effortless. The flow of the day was amazing, all thanks to Joy's planning and attention to detail. The Food was incredible. I have never heard so many compliments about food at a wedding like we have received about ours!! Service was outstanding, all staff were professional and attentive. The venue speaks for itself, but the staff definitely make the place. If you were to ever consider the Shandon Hotel as your wedding venue, take this as a sign DO IT !!! The Shandon was an incredible venue for our special day. My husband and I are both in America, so when we got engaged in Donegal, we only had one chance to see the venue, but the beautiful views and detailed, informative wedding brochure sold us immediately. Once we started seriously planning, we were in frequent communication with Joy Evans (Shandon's wedding coordinator) to secure our date and start customizing to our wishes. Throughout the entire process, Joy was communicative, detail-oriented, and reassuring. She was prompt to respond to emails and made efforts to make herself available for Zoom calls when needed. Being in America, I had to send family members to do my tasting, and they were delighted with the level of service they received from the Shandon and the communication with Joy. She thought of everything and had a comprehensive document for us to track all of our details for the day, including menu selections, key music, and flow of the day. On the actual day, everything went smoothly due to the coordination of Joy and the rest of the amazing staff at the Shandon. Guests were able to take beautiful photos in front of the view and were directed to their seats in an organized fashion. We received so many comments from our guests on how much they loved the cocktail hour, from taking in the views to the plentiful food and drinks offered. (We had the Champagne package) The dinner setup was beautiful, and every single course was absolutely delicious, by far the best wedding food I have had. The waitstaff were professional and friendly to all guests. The Shandon offers a wonderful dance floor environment, and the bar staff did an amazing job at refilling people all night and assisting in cleanup. Throughout the whole day, Joy was attentive to us and helped us through any hiccups. We really felt that this was a comprehensive venue that took care of so much for us, so we could focus on other vendors. We highly recommend the Shandon!

We had the most incredible wedding at the Shandon Hotel & Spa. The venue was absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views that created the perfect backdrop for our day. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make everything seamless, so professional, friendly, and attentive. A special thank you to Joy, who was fantastic throughout the whole planning process. She made everything so easy and stress-free, and nothing was ever too much trouble. When we started our search for a wedding venue we had shortlisted a few. We decided to stay overnight at the Shandon as it was on the way to the rest of our venues. As soon as we had booked in with Joy we were blown away by the welcoming and warm hospitality that they offer. We were given complimentary use of the spa, complimentary afternoon tea and an upgrade to a suite at the hotel. The best thing was that every member of staff we encountered knew our names and wished us a fantastic stay, we really felt that the level of effort that Joy and her staff had gone to just for a wedding consultation showed that they were the perfect venue for us. The hotel is modern and clean, and everyone in every department is so welcoming. The prices for weddings were really reasonable, and Joy helped us tailor what package we would need based on what we wanted and suggested ways to personalise the packages whilst keeping our costs down. The function room was spectacular, and when we were there for our show-round, they were fitting a permanent dance floor and refurbishing the in-room bar. They were also due to be getting new chairs and Joy made sure to show us when they arrived the next day! The view is also fantastic at the hotel but in truth, it was the people that we bought into, we had full faith in them and that they would be able to deliver what we wanted for our wedding day. The planning process was made easy by Joy and she was always on hand to answer any questions that we had, this was particularly important for us as we were arranging everything from the UK which made things a bit more difficult than would be usual. We made a few trips back over to Dunfanaghy and each time The Shandon looked after us so well, even upgrading the bedroom for our parents when they went over! The food tasting was fantastic and tasted so nice, it was just a shame we couldn’t have it all! Joy and the Chef allowed us to customise the menu to what we wanted as this was particularly important for us. When we ran through our final details Joy was again on hand to give us advice to help plan the day and really took the time to listen to what was important to us. She was always flexible and reassuring, and there was never an issue that we had that she couldn’t resolve! Then it came to the wedding day, everything went like clockwork, and our guests absolutely loved the venue. The service on the day was outstanding from all of the staff, and again, the food was sublime. We cannot thank all the staff at the Shandon enough, particularly Joy who contributed so heavily to the day, we had the best day of our lives! What a joy it was to have our special day at this beautiful hotel. Everything about the day went completely smoothly, we were so delighted! Joy did the best job of keeping everything going, from last-minute ceremony changes to having all of our little details sorted out, it was just perfect! And the food was just impeccable, we have had so many of our guests coming back to us to say how delicious everything was. We had a perfect wedding at the Shandon. We got very lucky with the weather but everything else was down to the amazing team at the Shandon. We had the ceremony on the terrace with Marble Hill Bay forming a perfect backdrop. Everything was set up perfectly and we didn't have to worry about a thing. Every staff member so was helpful and an absolute pleasure. The food was excellent, everything worked seamlessly, we couldn't be happier with how everything went. Our wedding coordinator Joy was brilliant and I would highly recommend her and the Shandon to anyone for a wedding.

An unforgettable Wedding at the Shandon Hotel & Spa We recently celebrated our wedding at the Shandon Hotel & Spa, and it truly exceeded all our expectations. From the very beginning, we were in excellent hands. Joy, our wedding coordinator, was an absolute pleasure to work with. Her experience, professionalism, and warm, friendly manner made the planning process so much easier and enjoyable. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and her guidance throughout was invaluable. Before the big day, we were invited for a complimentary menu tasting, which was such a lovely touch. Trevor, who looked after us that evening, shared his expertise and helped us make final decisions on both the menu and wine. His attention to detail and relaxed approach turned what could have been a stressful task into a really memorable experience. On the day itself, everything ran seamlessly — from the reception and speeches to the dinner service and entertainment. Joy and the entire staff went above and beyond to ensure everything flowed perfectly, always with a smile and a friendly word. We stayed in the Junior Suite (Bride) and Master Suite (Groom) the night before, and both rooms were absolutely stunning. Our photographer and content creator even commented on how elegant and well-lit the suites were — perfect for those all-important “getting ready” shots. Our ceremony was held at Ards Friary, just a short drive away. When we returned to the hotel, we were welcomed to a beautiful outdoor reception on the terrace, overlooking the breathtaking views of Sheephaven Bay and the Wild Atlantic Way. We’re still receiving compliments from family and friends about how incredible the venue was — from the picturesque setting and luxurious rooms to the first-class service throughout the entire weekend. We genuinely could not have asked for more. The Shandon Hotel & Spa gave us the wedding of our dreams, and we’ll be forever grateful for the wonderful memories created there. Highly recommended for any couple looking for an elegant, scenic, and professionally run wedding venue.

Our Wedding day was a dream come true. We got married at my home in Arranmore Island at 12 o'clock. It was a special morning and I loved being at home where I grew up on my wedding day. Our journey to the Shandon together was one to remember as we reminisced about our lives to date and about our friends and family who had gathered to be with us. I had such a sense of relief when I saw Joy waiting for us at the steps of the Shandon Hotel. It will be a moment that will stick out for me forever; not only was I being waited on (with 2 small children at home, this was a lovely feeling!) But I was met with a heartwarming smile, a big congratulations and a lovely glass of champagne. This moment for me was special; everything we had worked towards was here now, and it was time to celebrate! We met Joy in August 2022 when we got engaged, her way of working was that if we are organised, then she can work with us and there'll be no problems. And she was right! We relied on her a lot the last few weeks leading up to our day, and she was there on the other side of the phone and emails. The staff at the Shandon are all so welcoming and friendly and deliver their work in a way that is so natural. The food served to us on our wedding day was of an exceptional standard, all of our guests are still talking about the beef! Wedding at the Shandon I got married in July. We had our reception in the Shandon. The service was nothing but first-class, and the food was incredible!! All my friends and family couldn’t stop talking about how amazing they were treated and how delicious the food was. Joy, the wedding coordinator, made our day. This started well before our day with her superb organisation and calming nature. On the day there was an accident on route to the hotel. Thankfully none of our guests were involved and there were no fatalities. This meant myself, the groom and all our guests arrived late to the Shandon on the day. She dealt with the situation amazingly - keeping us calm which allowed us to have the most amazing day and pushing times back. Joy is absolutely fantastic at what she does and it felt like she was part of our family and friends on the day. She fitted in so well and my family all speak extremely fondly about her when reminiscing about the day. Honestly cannot recommend the Shandon enough. We had the best wedding day thanks to the Shandon, especially Joy.

We had our wedding in the Shandon in October 2023! We could not have asked for a better team to look after us. Joy the wedding coordinator was absolutely outstanding. She was so good to us and was so helpful to us as we planned our wedding all the way from New Zealand. On the day Joy was everywhere, she was on top of everything and I didn’t have to worry about anything she had every detail covered. The food was amazing with one of our guests saying it was the best wedding meal they have ever had! A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location with the most wonderful staff who made our day so special!

Autumn Wedding! Myself and my partner Ben had our wedding on 7th October 2023 in the Shandon Hotel and Spa. We can not praise the Shandon, their staff and our wedding co ordinator Joy Evans highly enough. Our original venue fell through, and from the moment we approached the Shandon, the process was effortless. Joy was with us throughout the entire process, always answered any questions so quickly and accommodated all requests. A bride's dream! On the day, she liaised with our photographer and vendors and made sure everything went smoothly. Joy came to see us off the following day and helped us with all our wedding stuff , making sure it all came back to us safely. Joy really was a pleasure to work with and went above and beyond!

Wedding Wonderland in the Stunning North West Coast We held our wedding at the Shandon Hotel over the 1st of July weekend, and it was a true fairytale. The location is unbeatable, with uninterrupted views over the beautiful Marble Hill Bay. We hosted 180 guests at our wedding reception, with the majority staying at the hotel, and the staff couldn’t have done more for us. In particular, a special mention must go to our wedding Coordinator, Joy Evan, who was wonderful and accommodating from our first meeting when we went to view the venue back in 2022, right through to our wedding day. Joy was very organised and made us feel at ease that all was in hand for the most anticipated day of our lives, and the Shandon did not disappoint. Our guests came from near and far, and the feedback we got from guests on how wonderfully delicious the food was on the day was so nice to hear and confirmed that we had made the right choice for our big day at the Shandon. On the day itself, we had planned for a champagne drinks reception on the lovely terrace overlooking the bay, however the weather was not in our favour (not unsurprisingly being Donegal) so we had to pivot and host the reception inside, but it didn’t dampen our day (excuse the pun) and our guests, as did we had a fabulous time. Joy was very attentive on the day and went out of her way to ensure everything went smoothly! My dress was soaked through from the photoshoot on the beach, and my hair and make-up were ruined. Joy had swiftly arranged for one of the salon staff from the Spa to come and help me redo my hair before being reunited with guests. Joy kept everything on track on the day, and the staff at the hotel really were just fabulous and went out of their way to assist and accommodate any requests. If we could do it all again, we would and wouldn’t change a thing for the world, not even the weather! We’re looking forward to our next little trip back to the Shandon and will forever hold a very special place in our hearts. This
