Had our wedding here in December was the best day we could have wished for. Phoebe our wedding planner was excellent, we could not have asked for more. Everything we asked for was achieved. The bedrooms are amazing, everyone said how lovely they were. The food was also very good. I would recommend Wivenhoe house for a wedding or a night away it really is a lovely venue.

Well what a fantastic venue from start to finish, we felt like royalty. We are an older couple and wanted something simple so with Lisa’s help decided on a cream tea for 21 guests. She wavered the minimum number and worked out a good reasonable cost, so we booked it and deposit went down and we went about organising our wedding. We booked a room for two nights so I stayed a day before. They stored our cake the day before and took everything off our hands, vases of flowers, everything. The wedding day was amazing. We had my grandsons as photographers they are 7 & 8 with the help of the registrar, she placed them facing the guests to get the best shots. As the boys they were 4, Lisa moved button holes etc. This was a simple wedding made special. I had silk flowers in vases, they were placed on the table during the service and by the time we sat down they had moved to the wedding table, it all makes a difference. Something very special, I gave a table place on a piece of A4 cardboard and as we went to enter the wedding breakfast they had made up an A3 table plan using images of the name places with butterflies and putting it in a stand. It made a difference. A very helpful thing especially with the cost of living after the deposit is paid, you get a date for the balance to be paid by so I was paying with whatever money I had during the weeks leading up to the final payment. I managed to pay via bank transfer bits here there and everywhere. Very flexible.So after boring the pants off everyone. The staff everyone from kitchen to house keeping (who thank you for our surprise by the way it was wonderful) were exceptional. Professional but approachable even tolerated the boys who were good but children will be children so another big thank you to the lady with the 5 year old for keeping an eye out. The building was magnificent. Everything was spotless. The food wonderful I’m gluten and milk intolerant and it was all catered for including breakfast. Happy days.

Just a few words to say how very pleased we are with how the whole Wivenhoe House Hotel team ran our wedding day. Many thanks to Lisa Grantham for setting up a very efficient personalised plan for us which ran perfectly, and Vusi and Lauren at reception for whom nothing seemed too much trouble. Hats off to Lionel and his team for their impeccable and discrete service, and to Pheobe and Gemma for all their help on the day. We were also taken with how beautifully our bedroom and function rooms were set and the calm and efficient way the entire day flowed faultlessly. We feel that we should also thank Camilla Legg for Jayne's hair and makeup, and Rob and Andy of Embrace Photography for integrating so well with the Wivenhoe team to make our day flow seamlessly. Overall we and our guests enjoyed our time with you immensely and will be recommending you wholeheartedly.

We had such an amazing day; the venue looked beautiful, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and it all just came together so well. The little touches from the congratulations card in our wedding night suite or the Ops Manager taking care of Pats nerves for him - we literally couldn’t have asked for more from anyone. I understand on the day there were a couple of guests springing dietary requirements out of no where, something I was not aware of previously. We have received such positive feedback about how the waitresses and kitchen staff managed these awkward requests and on behalf of our guests we would like to thank them all! Lionel as always was a true gent and made me and Patrick feel so special! He was so complimentary, catered to every need and really added a special atmosphere. On every visit I have loved bumping into him, what a wonderful man he is! We would like to thank Gus and Aaron especially. We couldn’t have asked for two more professional and genuinely lovely guys to run our wedding day. They chatted away with us, made all our guests feel welcome and added real warmth to the proceedings. They are two shining stars and I really hope we meet them again on future visits. And last but not least…… Louise, you have been an absolute gem from start to finish - it can’t have been easy being the third co-ordinator to work on our wedding but you managed it with ease and grace. Nothing was too much trouble, you never made me feel like I asked too many questions and you did everything with a spring in your step and a smile on your face, I applaud you! Everything went to plan on the day and I know in large that was down to your help and input. We literally couldn’t have asked for a more special day from you all so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

I had my wedding at Wivenhoe House and I would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff for making not just my wedding day but the whole weekend so special. All of my guests were absolutely blown away by Wivenhoe House and thought it was such an amazing venue. I really don't think i could have found a better place to have the best day of my life. My room was the Exclusive Suite which was absolutely out of this world. In the evening more of my guests arrived and we all had a lovely time sitting in the beautiful lounge. I noticed when i went downstairs that they were already setting up the room where my wedding reception was to be. This lovely man Lionel introduced himself to me and advised that he and some of the other staff are setting up the room and showed me how all the tables were going to be set up and they were more than happy to make any changes if i wanted them. Through the course of the evening Lionel would come into the lounge and check that me and my guests were ok and had a laugh and a joke with us all, he would also let me know how they were getting on down stairs. Then the wedding day, there are no words to explain what an amazing job they done. I asked for a couple of things to be brought to my room and within minutes it was there. All of the staff congratulated us and would always ask if we needed anything. We had the ceremony in one of the rooms upstairs in the main house so after the ceremony all of the chairs had to be taken down to the room where the reception was being held. This was all done so discretely and no body knew the chairs had been moved. All i can say is thank you so much Wivenhoe House and all the staff especially Sarah who pretty much arranged the whole day and another special thank you to Lionel you made my day even more special. Cant wait to come back and stay on our first wedding anniversary. Thank you all again so much. Mr & Mrs East.

A perfect day with attentive staff and a very patient events organiser. Nothing was too much trouble for Katie Ballard both in the planning stages and on the actual day. From first point of contact Katie was reassuring and supportive of our ideas to make our wedding day so special. Thank you Katie! A pleasure to work with such a professional team. Would highly recommend Wivenhoe House as a wedding venue and we look forward to celebrating our anniversaries there in the years to come!

We had the most amazing day, from start to finish. Your staff are simply some of the best I have come across in all the years I've been staying at hotels. The brasserie for lunch when we arrived, drinks in the evening with my cousins, breakfast on Saturday morning, all the wedding set up and beyond - all the staff were just fabulous. Friendly, helpful and welcoming. The stand-outs for me personally were the young lady who helped Irene and myself before you arrived - I can't remember her name but she's from the North East with dark hair. She was also around on Sunday morning. I did make a point of thanking her but please let your management staff know how much I appreciated her calmness and "can do" attitude. The other person worth a specific mention is Lionel. He was just fabulous, very calm, organised and practical with a great sense of humour. We couldn't have asked for better. The food and drink was absolutely brilliant too - the best fish pie I've ever had! I'm just sorry I didn't have enough room left for the evening buffet, but it looked lovely too. Of course, our special thanks go to you for the wonderful job you did on overseeing everything. Nothing was too much trouble, and the fact that everything went so smoothly was the inevitable result. When I saw photos of the ceremony room (which I obviously didn't see beforehand!) and also going into the reception itself, I was so impressed with how lovely it all looked. You did an excellent job and we are very grateful to you. So many of our guests said it was the best wedding they had been to in years. I'm just sorry we can't do it all again!

We really appreciate everything you have done for us at Wivenhoe House, it was beautiful and seamless. All our guests remarked on how lovely the staff and venue turned out. The food was amazing and you did an excellent job. I know you picked up from the lady before and it was tricky to start with but you were brilliant I cannot thank you enough we will come in and see you soon with some goodies! It was the best day ever and if we could do it again tomorrow we would do it all the same. With you in charge! My husband and I got married at Wivenhoe House on 5th July 2014 and we had an amazing day. I would thoroughly recommend Wivenhoe House as a wedding venue as all the staff were so helpful and went out of their way to make sure that everyone was having a great time. Charley and her events team were always available to assist when we were planning our big day too. The venue is so beautiful and the accommodation with all the different sponsored suites is fantastic. We had a lovely meal on the day and were able to attend a food tasting session beforehand to decide on our food choices. The wedding buffet in the evening seemed to be an endless supply to keep all of our guests well fed! This venue has it all, and is in such a beautiful setting with great photo opportunities in the gardens and by the lake. You would have an amazing wedding day here. Michaela & Alex Salvaris

Perfect day at Wivenhoe House, Colchester, Essex From the moment we made our first enquiry we knew that Wivenhoe House was going to make our wedding dreams a reality. We felt completely in safe hands by the team of wedding experts who actively listened to what we wanted for our special day and were able to offer us a bespoke package that surpassed even our high expectations of a venue. From organising hotel rooms, creating our own wedding breakfast menu and wine list, through to providing a stage for the band playing at our reception, the staff couldn't do enough to accommodate our wishes. Wivenhoe House is just stunning with its stylish decor and furnishings, alongside beautiful gardens and landscapes which made such a contrast in photography opportunities. When flicking through our wedding photos people always comment on how beautiful the hotel and grounds are at Wivenhoe House. Our family and friends continually say how much they enjoyed our perfect day, and how bowled over they were with the welcome and service they received from the staff throughout the entire day. In fact, one of my friends has booked Wivenhoe House for her forthcoming wedding, and my husband and I can't wait for our wedding anniversary as we've booked a weekend break at the hotel to celebrate. We wanted a smaller, more intimate wedding and were not sure we could find the perfect venue. We decided to look at Wivenhoe House as my husband attended Uni here and I grew up in a nearby village. The staff were amazing, very helpful with all the planning and communication was excellent. We were able to get everything we wanted to the venue early. Also we were able to arrange a pre visit with our photographer who came from out of the area. We were able to show him our room and all hotel areas which helped him get ideas for some amazing photos. We stayed the night before, our suite was palatial. On the day, guests arrived as did hair/make up/photographer and everyone was escorted to the right place at the right time. The ceremony, drinks reception and meal were equally seamless and the food was amazing. Again the service was fantastic. Many of us stayed overnight. We like to think we are well travelled and have experienced all different grades of hotels and venues. Everyone commented on the hotel and said, "what a great find". I'm sure we all think our wedding day was perfect. Ours was too with thanks to the staff and the setting at Wivenhoe House. I would really recommend the venue, it was stunning.
