We stayed at the Devonshire Arms Hotel in September for three nights for an elopement wedding package. We’d added an extra night so we had a full day to enjoy the hotel prior to our wedding. What a wonderful experience it was from beginning to end. There are many contributory factors for this. First of all, it was very well organised and we were made to feel very special – and all the staff we met were attentive, approachable and professional. Unlike some other hotels that advertise themselves as wedding venues, but on closer inspection are a little run down and lack attention to detail, The Devonshire Arms was the epitome of friendly sophistication. It has plenty of seating areas, all of which have great character and history, with roaring fires at the colder times of the year – even one in the entrance hall. Set in beautiful grounds with the hills near Bolton Bridge in the background, everything is carefully maintained. There are no weeds growing in the Devonshire Arms gardens! The small, but attractive room where the wedding took place was the perfect size for us – there were just the two of us, plus two witnesses we ‘borrowed’ for the occasion, though there was also room for the videographer, photographer and, of course, the registrars. The Devonshire can also cater for larger parties in other parts of the hotel and grounds. The wedding breakfast was excellent – beautifully cooked for just the two of us. We stayed in one of the suites, and there were so many ‘little extras’ to delight us – as well as a fridge to keep our champagne cold! The package also included treatments at the hotel’s spa just over the road. That was good too, but the revelation was the picturesque stream bubbling through the spa’s gardens – with a small stone bridge arching over it – the perfect place for taking romantic wedding photos. The whole experience left us feeling truly pampered, and we’ll definitely be returning to The Devonshire Arms in the future!

We had a perfect Wedding at The Devonshire Arms and were really happy with our venue choice. Not only is the surrounding area beautiful, but the hotel itself was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful right from the start when we were planning, through to the day when they made us feel like royalty. Every single member of staff gave first class service. The food was amazing - the most delicious meal we have ever had! And the building was the perfect romantic setting. Thank you so much to everyone at The Devonshire for making it everything we wanted.

We got married at the Devonshire arms on the 1st June 2019. I can honestly say from beginning to end they were faultless. Right from looking round the venue to booking and all of the planning before the day was perfect. Robyn who was our wedding planner made our experience a dream. She was on the ball straight away, nothing was a ‘silly’ request and she dealt with everything we wanted to make our day special. We can’t fault the Devonshire Arms, our day was truly magical. If we could have our day again, I wouldn’t change a thing. The venue is beautiful and staff were amazing. We had a lot of feedback from our guests who all said positive things about the venue. Rob and I would like to thank you all at ’The Devonshire’ for hosting our daughter’s wedding. It was truly an amazing day and everything was perfect. We have so many wonderful memories now and can’t wait to see the official photographs. Our guests have been so complimentary of the venue, the food, the service, everything in fact! I married the love of my life and oh my goodness did we choose the right place!! From the minute I arrived to the moment we left our experience was simply perfect. The staff were beyond helpful, exceptional service and facilities, spa experience was top notch and all in such a beautiful setting. Wouldn't change a second of it! Thank you for for everything you did for us to help us have such an amazing wedding day. It truly was better than we could possibly have hoped and large part of this was down to yourselves at the Devonshire. You're right, the room was gorgeous and we were so lucky with the weather. Liz looked after us perfectly on the day and the food was fantastic. One of the thank you cards we received when we got back from honeymoon was from friends who have been to a lot of wedding and they said the food was the best food they have had at a wedding. Thank you for making the planning process so pain free, it wasn't the easiest with a small baby but you were so helpful and accommodating it made such a difference.
