Chris and I would like to thank all of the staff at The Rose and Crown for making our day so special. In particular Catherine (Cat) and Sue Brown. Unfortunately Sue wasn't there for our wedding day, due to holiday, but leading up to our wedding, she was marvelous. She answered any questions or queries we had or tending to guests special needs, she was amazing. We met Catherine (Cat) the day prior to our wedding. She excelled to another level, from arranging the table layout, to decorations and music for the ceremony, nothing was too much trouble. She was absolutely delightful and a great asset to this beautiful hotel. The reception staff were absolutely wonderful, including the waitresses and bar staff. This delightful hotel and amazing staff makes The Rose and Crown Hotel a magical venue for anyones wedding. We held our wedding at the Rose and Crown Hotel. The venue, our wedding organiser and all the staff were incredible. The days leading up to it were fantastic, and the entire wedding day was as perfect as it possibly could be. The planning was EXCELLENT. The team took the time to listen, so nothing was too much trouble. The hotel catered for every need of our wedding party all day happily. The venue is stunning, and there are lots of beautiful photo opportunities inside and out.

Perfect place for an all-inclusive wedding. Good location, plenty of parking for your guests. The staff at the hotel went out of their way to make all the guests feel at home. All the guests commented on how good the food was. The hotel has lots of history, it's an old hotel, but the rooms had mod cons. The four-poster bedroom was spacious and lovely. The reception room was fantastic. A bit like stepping back into Tudor times. Good for pictures. Some friends of ours, who went to our wedding, are thinking about having their wedding at this location. If you want a wedding venue that's full of character with fantastic staff, do not hesitate, just book.

We had a wonderful time at The Rose and Crown. We couldn't ask for a better venue or staff that looked after us. All of our family were made to feel welcome and looked after. We were lucky enough to have Lisa help us from start to finish with all the changes that had to be made to our day. We will visit again for dinner and a night away from the kids as it's a lovely relaxing hotel.

2020 was a dreadful year. Our original plans were changed 8 times due to government guidance moving from no weddings to 30 guests, to an undecided tier contingency plan to 15 guests and then lockdown meaning our date moved....we were close to believing our wedding would never happen. but Lisa and the team at THE rose and crown, Colchester stuck with us at each turn. for every change in plan, Lisa and and the hotel worked to come up with a new plan to make our special day come to life. eventually, on 12th December 2020 (a month after our initial date) it finally went ahead. From an initial party of 60 and 120 evening guests, we finally welcomed 15 of our closest friends and family. The rose and crown made the day intimate and cosy. each of our guests were treated to an overnight stay in the oldest part of the hotel with great character and charm; we had log fires, a dedicated team of table service and a bespoke menu created by the chef to suit our dietary needs. The entire team worked to give us the day we wanted and the experience, to be honest, that we needed! The food, beverages and service were impeccable. In 2020, this was exactly what we needed and the rose and crown team made it happen! this was truly a phenomenal venue for a wedding.

Can't recommend the Rose and Crown enough. Lisa and the team made sure everything was taken care of and made everything flow so effortlessly. From the night before, where the bar kept us fed and watered (the food was sublime), to the day of the wedding. Considering all the alterations we made through COVID the guys catered for all of it, and were now having our reception portion of the wedding next year, all of which was moved and sorted with no fuss. The team were helpful and bent over backwards to accommodate us all. Really, really couldn't thank the guys enough.

We held our 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration here. The whole experience was exceptional, from the ease of planning to the day itself. We had an amazing 5 course meal and the presentation and food exceeded our expectations. The team were extremely helpful and efficient and made the whole event run smoothly without any intrusion and made us and our guests feel safe and well looked after as nothing was any trouble. We also had a complimentary stay in the honeymoon suite which was quirky and very comfortable. Overall excellent value for money and will be definitely be recommending to others.

We got married on the quiet in September, but wanted to have a celebration party which we booked at the Rose & Crown for November. Myself and my husband made the right choice in choosing the Rose & Crown, as all of the staff were extremely helpful and polite and the evening was just as we wanted it to be. The feedback from our guests was was very positive and they all enjoyed themselves. They loved the venue and the history of the Rose & Crown and the food was delicious. We enjoyed it so much, that I suggested to have our works Christmas lunch here in December and it's been booked. I cannot give any negative points about the Rose & Crown or the staff and I would certainly recommend any future brides to definitely take a look, you will not be disappointed. Thank you all.

We wanted to say a big thank you to Lisa and the team at the rose and crown for helping us to have such a wonderful wedding day. Right from the start Lisa has been great at answering all of our many questions and helping us through all our deliberations! You can tell that the team are very experienced at hosting weddings as nothing was too much to ask and every detail had been considered. On the day everything went very smoothly, the rose suite looked stunning and the food was absolutely lovely. All our guests commented on the lovely food and had a wonderful time. My husband and I cannot fault anything during our wedding day at the Rose & Crown, Colchester. From booking our special day right through to the day itself Lisa and the whole team went above and beyond. The day itself was simply perfect! Everything ran smoothly and nothing was too much trouble. Sian was absolutely amazing and worked tirelessly the whole day. Lisa and the team at the Best Western Rose & Crown Hotel, Colchester were, quite simply amazing. We only had 8 weeks to plan and organise our wedding however, from the initial enquiry, right up to our wedding day, Lisa was nothing short of fantastic. She made the whole process easy and was very understanding about some of the special requirements that we had in order to cater for the particular dietary and other needs of both myself and our guests. She also made some great suggestions to improve the Reception and ensured that everything went well on the day. The staff who served us on the day, led by Toni and Johanna, were brilliant and did everything they could to make the day the success that it clearly was. Not one guest had any complaint however, everyone commented on what a great time that they’d had, the quality of the food and how helpful they’d found the staff to be. We would recommend this venue to anyone; they are at the top of their game and did everything that they possibly could to make our special day the success that it was.

We had an absolutely fabulous day. The venue is a beautiful Tudor building and it had a lovely atmosphere. The honeymoon suite was spacious and comfortable. The day was perfect and went almost without a hitch. The staff made sure the day ran smoothly. The staff were friendly and helpful and we felt perfectly at ease throughout the day. The food was also very good. I received many comments about how good the food was from guests following the meal. We had been concerned about where to take photos, however, a garden opened at the venue during the summer and was perfect for wedding shots. Lisa and her team at the Rose and Crown were wonderful and it turned out to be a perfect day. Thank you to everyone who helped make it so. We would recommend the venue to anyone looking to get married there.

The Rose and Crown was the perfect place for our wedding reception. Beautiful and historic with plenty of room for large weddings. Incredibly reasonably priced for all that you get. The staff accommodated all our requests and managed both problems that arose beforehand, like complicated dietary requirements and on the day, like our band being stuck in traffic, with ease. We received so many compliments on the food. Lisa and the team do a wonderful job of making everything run so smoothly they are a calm presence on what could be a stressful day. The bridal suite is gorgeous and feels very far away from the rest of the hotel. They even managed to deal with a guest having lost their keys in the morning!

Environment - External & Internal The environment is fantastic with the historic looking exterior of the building creating a nice fall back for the photos. We also had the benefit of the love garden for photos and drinks. Rooms - The bridal room is very spacious and we were allowed the use of it a lot earlier than should have been Event room decor - I will not name her - She is fantastic!but she showed me the room on the penultimate day and asked if wanted any more petals...of course, and the room was spectacular by the next morning. Food and drinks - The food was great and excellent choices available for non meat eaters! Overall the staff on ground were very happy to help. I certainly recommend the Rose and Crown and will be back for my anniversary party!!!!

I can not give Lisa and her fantastic team enough praise for making our special day extra special. Everything from the Friday night when we checked in up to the Sunday morning was done with professionalism and a lovely touch of Lisa's humour. The venue itself is perfect for an all inclusive wedding package. Fantastic food and all from waiting staff to bar staff were brilliant. Huge thank you to All at the Rose and Crown. Fully recommend. I first visited the venue in May. I was highly impressed by the neat and tidy environment as well as the pleasantness of the staff. Lisa talked us through the wedding and what we will need as well as the options we can have. Fast forward to the penultimate day, event room set up with guest names laid ....all set. The day! We had guests from Denmark and Iceland (Per is from Denmark). All guests had nothing but great comments about the service they received. I had access to the bride's room as early as 9 am for a 12.30 wedding. The staff all bent over backwards to help us. The food! I initially wasn't happy that we couldn't mix the selection,but hey,the food was of high quality and great standard. The gluten frees and vegetarians were well catered for. Per feels that we got more/better service than we paid for! I have no hesitation in recommending the Best Western Rose and Crown in Colchester. Crystal & Per

I got married just over three weeks ago. And I had my reception at the Rose and Crown hotel was absolutely amazing and the staff is incredible. From the day I booked it a year and a half ago before my wedding Lisa was amazing going for all the details helping me with everything. And the night before my wedding the staff were Incredible they helped me so much get things how I wanted it. And on the day of our wedding it went so smoothly the staff were Great greeting our guests, the meal was absolutely beautiful. And the buffet was so lovely too. So if you are looking for a venue for your wedding I really wouldn’t look any further than the Rose and Crown they are absolutely amazing the teamwork is just brilliant and I couldn’t fault anything so I’m so happy we made the decision to have our wedding reception there.

We can't thank Lisa and the team enough. They were absolutely fantastic for our recent wedding. We knew we wanted to get married at the Rose & Crown the moment we visited for the wedding open day. It's one of the top wedding venues in Essex but more importantly the staff are so lovely and that's what sold it for us. From day one everyone was so helpful. Lisa answered all of our questions (and there were a lot), nothing was too much trouble. Communication was prompt and Lisa made notes on all the little extra details that we wanted. When it came to the day itself it was perfect, the venue looked stunning, the food was fantastic and the staff worked so hard. They were so attentive and looked after our every need but also just blended into the background working tirelessly to make sure everything ran like clockwork. Married my childhood sweetheart at the Rose and Crown Hotel 4 years ago and thanks to the great organisation of the day but Lisa and her team, my wife had the best day of her life. We always loved the interior decor of the Rose and Crown and now it will forever be in our wedding album. Have and will continue to recommend others to this lovely place for their wedding venue.
