Just want to write a huge thank you to entire team at Lumley Castle who made our wedding day such a magical and beautiful day. The run up to the wedding was smooth and supportive. The team was accommodating to our very specific vision. But words can not even begin to express how perfect the day was. Everything was beautiful, immaculate and ran so smoothly. Keith our master of ceremony , in particular has an eye for detail and perfection. He looked after single small detail we wanted. The day ran without a hitch and we can thank Keith and the rest of the team for ensuring that was the case. Thank you so much for making it’s so special and delivering the exact vision we imagined our day would be. The venue is just stunning and magical, that both adults and children were in awe of its beauty. It was decorated stunning for Christmas which just added to the magic. The ceremony room ( barons ) was romantic and charming, a really stunning setting. We headed on to the garter suite for the wedding breakfast and evening reception, which was outstandingly beautiful and the white decor makes it a very versatile room for colour themes. We had so many guests comment on the gorgeous canapés ( believe the tart was everyone’s fave) . The meal was beautiful also. But the main thank you really does go to the team, we can’t believe how bespoke, kind and accommodating everyone was. They made it so perfect and even had a few guests tell us it was the best wedding they be been too! But a final thank you for Keith ( master of ceremony) he just understood myself and Mikes eye for perfection and helped deliver our dream with a truly outstanding service. Thank you, cant wait to come back for an evening and relive our memories at a very unique and special venue.

We had a medieval themed wedding at Lumley Castle and it was the best experience of our lives. The team really went out of their way to make sure our day was perfect. The decor looked incredible, the staff were always friendly and helpful and the entertainment was superb. We had the red carpet rolled out in the Barron’s hall to walk down the aisle to and we were married under a beautiful tree arch with candles, hanging tealights and beautiful scenery. It looked like something from a fairytale. We then were entertained by a Court Jester during our drinks reception in the atmospheric dungeon bar and had a five course theatrical banquet. The staff went out of their way to set the theme- with a sword fight, handfasting, a personalised presentation on the story of our relationship and live music. Our master of ceremonies really entertained our guests and there was an exciting part where the lights went out “to go back in time” it was a really fun surprise. The food was lovely- really filling- so much so that we had to force the hog roast down on the night. Ben, the ops manager ran our day really efficiently and made sure we were happy throughout the day. We really felt like VIPs. Lindsey, Heidi, Ben, Mike and the rest of the wedding/entertainment team are a credit to Lumley Castle and we cannot thank them enough. The staff in the restaurant also really went out of their way to cater for allergies and were more than happy to arrange a lovely breakfast sent to our honeymoon suite. We stayed in the King James suite and it was fit for royalty with a jacuzzi, four poster bed, sitting area and some really quirky features. I cannot recommend them as a venue enough and we would choose them again and again. So many of our guests commented saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to and how personalised it was.

Absolutely nothing to say except amazing! The preparation was made super easy, especially as we live aboard and were organising from the Middle East. We had guests from all over the world and everyone cannot believe the friendliness, professionalism and overall desire to keep the guests happy from the staff. The venue is spectacular and the addition of having the rooms for all the guests to stay in one place was superb also - meant the entire weekend was intimate and special only for us. Huge thanks to the wedding and catering team for everything they did, not one person complained about anything ! Bar staff, well having a lot of rugby friends, your work was cut out but nothing was too much and you excelled! Truly special place with amazing staff and I would give Lumley Castle a 6 star rating out of 5 if I could! Thank you for making our day / weekend so special.

Lumley Castle is the most beautiful wedding venue. The Baron's Hall was the perfect location for our day - incredibly atmospheric and absolutely stunning. Every guest commented about the venue, all noting how beautiful the castle was. All of the staff were fantastic and they were so kind and attentive (from those behind the bar, to those serving our meal, to the wedding coordinators). They made every single guest feel welcome and were a vital cog in the perfection of the day itself. The food was superb. Catering at large occasions such as this typically requires a compromise in either quantity or quality. However, this was not the case at Lumley where the wedding breakfast was both incredibly delicious and the serving sizes were perfect. Many thanks for making our wedding day perfect.

Best venue for weddings!! We had our wedding here just last Friday. (09.06.23) Where do I start! From the original booking two years ago, it wasn’t a great start with wedding coordinators coming and going.. however in the last 6 months Lindsay took over and she was brilliant. Skip forward to our wedding day.. and wow. Staff and venue were phenomenal. Keith looked after us on the big day and he is an absolute credit to the company, I could write a whole review on Keith alone. We really didn’t feel a single bit of stress or worry as he took it all away. Reception staff (Dean and Andrew) amazing! Smiled and friendly for the 3 days we were there! The venue was breath taking and all of our guests were blew away. I would 100% recommend Lumley Castle for any occasion! We just can’t commend the staff enough. Kayleigh and Sam

We had our wedding here on Saturday 13/5/23 and feel I would just like to say a few words about our experience. Right from the beginning we were bowled over with the beauty, but most of all the friendliness of the staff we dealt with. Lumley Castle is a fantastic wedding venue it is beautiful and full of full of interesting history. The one thing that made it head and shoulders above the rest is the staff. Right from the people on reception to the wedding team to the lovely ladies in your restaurant and waitress staff on our wedding day, everyone was so naturally lovely. Keith was amazing and so reassuring. Treasure your staff they are your best asset.

Our wedding at Lumley Castle was amazing, the whole process from the booking of the event right up until the day after our wedding could not have been better, the constant updates throughout made sure everything was in order so on the day everything went like clockwork, the registrar, photographer, meal, cake... everything as planned. The venue was perfect with the added bonus of the King’s Coronation also taking place that weekend. There was bunting everywhere which added to the atmosphere, the Gilt room which look great in photographs was even better in reality, the food was beautiful (every guest commented on how good it was), the staff themselves were brilliant and even joined in with the fun on the evening. We'd like to thank Lindsey, Heidi and Keith for making our day go so well, we didn’t think for one minute there would be any issues but their attention to detail showed and all of the guests commented on the day and how amazing it was and in conversations since the wedding several of them are planning a return to Lumley Castle for meals and events.

We want to say a massive thanks to you and the rest of the Weddings Team, especially Emma and Alex. The day went superbly and we really couldn’t have asked for anything more, it was so special. A truly emotional day for not only us, but also for my Step dad, who was so proud to walk me down the aisle at long last. It was the winter wedding we never got 10 years ago. Huge thanks also to Dean who saved the day with the table layout and helped us rearrange the table and seating a little bit, and also helped us with making sure the cd music played ok. Both the Scarborough and Northumbria rooms were so beautiful, very festive and only added to the magic of the day. The talented chefs and kitchen staff gave us stunning food and the delicious canapés were a huge hit with our guests. All of our guests, some of which had never been to Lumley Castle, were enchanted with it, and fell in love with its unique quirkiness. I don’t think Lily has ever had so many “hello’s”. We feel extremely blessed that we had such an professional team working hard to create the perfect day for us, and at the head of that team was you Holly. You are so good at your job. Efficiency personified, and a 1000 thank-yous are not enough. From sorting out our precise accommodation requests, the perfect menu and drinks, my never ending calls and emails regarding trivial little details, and you did it all with a perfect blend of calm and reassurance. As you may remember when we first met you, we said we have been visiting Lumley for the best part of 20 years and it is always our “No 1 go-to” place whenever we have a special occasion, birthday, anniversary, ... or even just a Wednesday! So again, please accept our heartfelt thanks for giving us such a memorable day, we will never forget it.

We found lumley as a venue quite by accident as it wasn't somewhere we had thought about. but from walking in the door we knew it was the venue for us! The castle is beautiful with an amazing atmosphere and it really was a dream venue to us! From the very start of the process the planning staff could not be more helpful. We always felt like our questions were welcomed and they were accommodating in every aspect. Our day went perfectly, the staff were amazing and the food was lovely. I can not recommend them enough. From the moment we went to a wedding fair at Lumley we were so impressed by the staff, service and venue that they went straight to the top of our list! The organisation and support before the day was top notch and we felt very safe in the hands of the wedding and operations team. The day itself was a dream. The staff were friendly and welcoming to our guests. They took care of everything so all my husband and I had to do was enjoy the day. They were accommodating to our wishes so our guests enjoyed themselves too. The venue itself is stunning and made such a good impression on our guests. It also looked amazing in photos! We are incredibly pleased with our experience with Lumley Castle and genuinely cannot praise it highly enough.

Don't know where to start! We cannot thank yourself and Tony enough for giving us the day of our dreams. We really did have a fairytale. Everything was completely perfect. The only thing we picked up on was the DJs skills were a bit dated. He didn't know a lot of the songs people were requesting and the floor was a bit empty. However, we had enough entertainment elsewhere so it wasn't an issue. A big thank you to Tony who went above and beyond for us nothing was too much trouble.

Lumley Castle was without doubt the right venue for our wedding and we are really pleased we chose it. Everything ran smoothly on the day, it’s a venue with a lot of experience of weddings and they know what they are doing. David was our Co-ordinator on the day and he was great, helpful, nothing was too much trouble and it felt like he really cared about everything running smoothly. We booked the Scarbrough room for our ceremony and the Baron Suite for the reception. It was lovely to have the two options for the two elements of our day. The Baron Suite is really quirky - if you book it and go for table flowers I recommend utilising the candelabras, we did and they looked fab with trailing flowers arranged by our florist. Emma and Holly were excellent in terms of the planning, very helpful, knew their stuff and were very responsive. One of the things I found stressful with wedding planning was when suppliers didn’t get back very promptly but that was never an issue with Lumley. Always consistent in terms of communication. Price wise, we went with the sapphire package and it felt reasonable for what we got, our guests loved the food. There wasn’t much negotiation on price for things, some prices/pricing strategies were set in stone. So if you are looking for a lot of negotiation price wise then this may not be the venue for you. However I don’t know that other venues are big on negotiation either. If you want to get married somewhere that’s extremely picturesque for photos, quirky for guests and with staff who genuinely are lovely then I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Lumley Castle. We had a brilliant day and our chosen venue was definitely part of this.

We had a very intimate wedding with just the 2 of us and our daughter. Emma our wedding coordinator made sure that the package we choose was tailored right for us and kept us updated which was brill and we want to thank her for that. The King James suite was even better than the pics and the bed one of the most comfortable I have slept in. Massive thank you to Kim and Claire our witnesses. And a massive well done to Kim and her team: Sam, Sharon and Sarah for making our night in the restaurant perfect. Their customer service was of a high standard. Kim made sure that our evening meal was exactly as we expected it, on time, nothing was to much trouble for her. A real asset to the hotel. The food was also cooked beautifully and the quality was outstanding. So hats off to the Chefs. It was great to be looked after by very professional but still friendly staff. If you are at Lumley Castle and you feel the menu is quite basic for your taste, speak with the restaurant team, they will make an ordinary meal extraordinary. Thank you all for making our special day so special.

We got married on the 7th July 2018 at Lumley Castle, The weather was sunny and the venue is beautiful. Due to the number of guests attending, we had our Marriage ceremony in the Barons Hall. As it was 2nd time around for both my wife and I, we decided to break convention and went with the Elizabethan banquet instead of the traditional wedding breakfast. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment that went with it. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. There are also some lovely areas in the grounds for some great photographs to look back upon the memories of the day. I highly recommend Lumley Castle.

Our wedding here was beyond perfect. Right from our first visit we knew we’d made the right decision. The staff were attentive and so knowledgable. The venue speaks for itself, we love being able to tell our little boy “mammy & daddy we’re married in a castle!”. The food was another huge highlight, the wedding breakfast was delicious as was the evening buffet. Our guests' highlights were how the day flowed so well and also... the sausage rolls?! Apparently they were to die for!? They still get talked about to this day! We would definitely say, if you’re looking for a stand out venue where nothing is too much trouble, take a look at Lumley ????

"My now husband and I first came to visit Lumley Castle back in October 2017 and met with one of the wedding team. We looked around the stunning castle and took a look at both the beautiful reception rooms. We knew that Lumley Castle was the venue for us and we choose the beautiful light and bright Garter Suite, and booked our wedding the very next day. From the start the wedding team were very helpful and guided us through the process of organising our prefect day. With regular emails and updates from the team to what needed to be done next and kept us informed at every stage of the process. Every question to the team was promptly responded to. We got married at Lumley Castle on the 30th March 2019. The day itself was absolutely perfect, the events team, imparticular David made sure everything was just how we wanted it and made me feel confident that our day would be perfect for us. The day ran so smoothly and was very well organised thanks to Lumley's amazing staff. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and ensured that all our guests had everything they needed. The wedding breakfast meal was fantastic, all of our guests commented how delicious the food was, every course was served and cleared very fluently. The wedding breakfast was lovely and relaxed. Our wedding day was perfect from start to to finish, we could not have wanted anymore from our special day. The castle itself and reception rooms were the perfect setting for our day. What can I say about our experience at Lumley Castle for our wedding! It was outstanding from start to finish and we had the most wonderful day ever with our friends and family, which will stay with us always. The wedding team are brilliant! Holly was so friendly and helpful, and always had great communication and efficiency with us, which made things so easy to organise. David who we met a few days before the wedding and who took care of everything on our entire day, was nothing short of fantastic. As soon as we arrived with our lists, vision and requests he put us at complete ease and took away any last minute stresses that you inevitably feel days before. He was marvellous at taking care of all the finer details and made everything run like clockwork on the day, meaning we could absolutely not worry about a thing, and just enjoy our wonderful day. All of the guests commented on how amazing not only the place looked but just how everything flowed so well, which was a credit to him and his team. I’ve always loved Lumley Castle and after getting engaged in London a few years ago, saw it in all its glory on the train journey home. After previously talking about having a low key wedding somewhere, that all changed and I said to Chris, that I wanted to get married there, and we did! I’d say to anyone thinking about Lumley Castle for their special day, do it! I can’t praise it enough – beautiful grounds, beautiful rooms – the Scarbrough state room lovely for our ceremony, and the Garter room was stunning for our celebrations. The food delicious and the staff and wedding team are brilliant. You’ll have an overall fabulous time making lots of happy memories you can look back on.

We got married at Lumley Castle in April 2019. From booking 18 months prior the Weddings team made every effort to ensure nothing was too much trouble and were very easy to contact when required. When we visited the Castle we were made to feel very welcome and they ensured the planning was stress free! The wedding day itself ran like clockwork and all the staff were so hard working to made our dream day exactly what we had imagined. The Castle and the grounds are beautiful and a perfect location for any wedding.

We had an absolutely amazing day and it could not have been better. We have received lovely feedback from our guests as well. Mark and I would like to thank the whole wedding team for the work you all put into making our day so special. We got married here on 9th June after falling in love with the castle from the moment we visited, and it really was the best day of our lives! The whole day was perfect from start to finish; better than we ever imagined! Christina was amazing from the very first meeting we had with her, and helped us every step of the way and on the day itself, Keith did a brilliant job of making sure everything went to plan. We can't thank the two of them enough! So many guests commented on how lovely the day was and the few shots we've seen from our photographer so far are amazing! We cant wait to see the full set now! Wow!! What can I say.. We were married here two weeks ago and still on cloud 9! This castle exceeded our expectations and really did deliver our dream wedding which we will remember for the rest of our lives. The team at Lumley Castle are nothing short of miracle workers and their dedication really shone through right from the very first time we made contact. For anyone considering a castle wedding at Lumley! I whole heartedly recommend you do it!
