Kevin and I had the most amazing wedding at the Old Ground and would highly recommend the hotel as a wedding venue. The hotel itself is just beautiful, the building itself, the ivy on the front wall, the stunning gardens and the newly redecorated function room offer some really great photo opportunities on the day. It made such a difference on the day to be able to take our pictures at the venue and enjoy the drinks reception at the same time. We had a lot of guests travelling from outside Clare (and Ireland) and it was really lovely to have Ennis town on the doorstep too because it is a lovely market town for visitors. We had our day 2 in a pub in Ennis and it was lovely for guests just to be able to walk to that venue from the hotel too. The venue, location and amenities (3 restaurants!) are stunning but what really sets the Old Ground apart is the personality and experience you get while you're there - it really is something special. Firstly, the service is BRILLIANT, I've had multiple compliments from guests about the service provided not just on the day but throughout their stay. From the moment you walk into the hotel, the staff go above and beyond to make you feel super welcome and comfortable which is all you want for your guests. This stretches from the senior management (being very present and involved on the day) to all staff who are recruited and trained well. As an example, our best man missed breakfast the next morning and he was looked after with a sandwich and coffee - it's the little things like that which make a huge difference. Secondly, the food was AMAZING, super fresh seafood and other canapes served at the reception, the Lamb was cooked to perfection and seconds were served to all. The team were really accommodating to people arriving late with kids...people watching the World Cup in the bar.... people with allergies (you name it!) all were looked after! The Old Ground were also really accommodating around timing of the dinner and speeches and nothing was too much trouble for how you wanted the day to go. They were also flexible on the day and simply re-adjusted the timing of the 'Afters' food on the fly. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, it will always be a special place for Kevin and I and for the reasons above, we'll always look forward to going back!

We were given expert advise down to the fine details and nothing was too much trouble, even accommodating food allergies within the wedding party as though it was routine. Phil was a fantastic support during planning and was there to answer every tiny question we had. If we had been blown away by the service before the big day, all the stops were pulled out on the day itself and the hotel should be so proud of all their staff who couldn’t have done enough for us and our guests, nothing was too much trouble and the day went off without a hitch. The quality of the food was superb, our guests are still complimenting it. Thanks so much to Phil and the team for making our day so special for us. Emma and Liam June 2018

Sarah and Eoin's colourful and chic The Old Ground Hotel Wedding. Sarah and Eoin’s family oriented The Old Ground Hotel wedding is truly one for the books. Born into a family of artists, Sarah’s eye for decor and colour are evident in this beautiful Ennis based wedding. The couple’s beautiful venue, The Old Ground Hotel in Ennis, is owned by one of their dear friends, so they knew they were going to be in good hands. It also helped that this venue had tasty food that Sarah and Eoin loved. Ennis is close to Sarah’s family because her dad is from there, and the family pub is only a couple doors down up from The Old Ground Hotel, which is where they spent the night after the wedding listening to traditional Irish music. Sarah and Eoin chose to hold both their ceremony and reception in the same location. "We wanted it to be intimate and as easy as possible for the guests. They had travelled down to County Clare for the weekend so once they arrived we wanted them to relax and enjoy themselves. Having the ceremony in the same venue as the reception meant that once they landed they didn’t really have to move! "

Best Decision, Best Service, Best Wedding, Beautiful Hotel! I just had my wedding reception in the OG (Thursday 28th Dec 17) and next to the choice of groom, it was the best decision I made! Best Decision, Best Service, Best Wedding, Beautiful Hotel! I just had my wedding reception in the OG (Thursday 28th Dec 17) and next to the choice of groom, it was the best decision I made! I dealt with the wedding coordinator Phil Spellissy for a year through email because I live abroad. Phil was fantastic, she gave me ideas and sorted everything I asked for. She ensured that all my idiosyncratic notions were catered for and when I needed 40 bottles of lemonade the night before the wedding she ensured that I got them. Her attention to detail was wonderful. All the staff were equally as helpful. The managers and staff who looked after me and my family during our stay made Christmas for us. There were so many nice touches I can't name them all, but one stands out: being able to leave my dress in the hotel on Christmas Eve. The food during the wedding was delicious and plentiful. The guests were all offered seconds and every table was served perfectly. My guests were in awe of the Yorkshire pudding and the toblerone cheesecake was also a huge hit. The pastry chefs were also fantastic when I needed a birthday cake made last minute they made the most delicious chocolate cake. The reception staff were very helpful to me, I called on them all hours of the night and for all sorts of odd things and they looked after me so well I cannot thank them enough. The waiters, the porters, the bar staff, the house keeping team were all very professional. I really got the sense that the staff work in a happy environment. My guests enjoyed the wedding as much as my husband and I did. We got excellent value and although we set out to enjoy the day no matter what, picking the Old Ground hotel was really the best decision because the staff went above our expectation in service. So, a massive thanks to all the staff in the Old Ground hotel for making our wedding wonderful.
